Hi - my name is Stephen. I've decided to join my dad in the thirty day challenge this year. I'm 10 - don't hold it against me...
![]() We're looking for a team - we live in Northern Idaho in the USA. He knows more about what he's doing than I do - but I want to learn. Hey, it's this or play video games all summer... ![]() So - if you'd like to help me and my dad out, let's talk about a team ![]() Good luck this year, Stephen |

Hi Stephen.
It's really cool that you are doing TDC. I'm just trying to encourage my son (he's 12) to do the same - for the same reason too, but I don't seem to be having a great deal of success yet. I was just reading through the forums and thinking about posting for a UK team. I'm based in the England so our time zones are out by about 5 or 6 hours. I did the challenge last year and our team was international - UK, USA, Austrailia and New Zealand. It was fantastic Stephen, we spent hours talking on Skype and I'm still in touch with the others. It's a wonderful experience and you really will enjoy it. There is so much to learn and these are skills that will help you in the future. I'm going to have a good chat to my son about this Stephen. See if I can spark some interest. I wish you every success with the Challenge. Julie |

Hi Julie,
Thank you for answering my post. I've always wondered what it would be like to go to England - it would be really awesome to know some people there. I hope you're able to spark some interest with your son, and he decides to join you. My 16 year old sister doesn't want to - I think she'd be good at it, but my Dad won't force her to do the TDC if her heart isn't in it. So it'll be him and me... ![]() I had to ask my Dad about this - he says our time zone is Pacific Daylight Savings or GMT -07. He works from 8AM to about 6PM Monday through Friday, and is off on the weekends. (Which means he still gets honey-do lists from my Mom: yardwork, errands, dishes, etc.) Maybe, we could Skype before he goes to work - or on the weekends. I think he gets home too late for Skyping (is that a word?) There's always e-mail and/or chat - and he says we'll be learning a bunch of ways to connect with people from all over the world. So, if we can work around the time difference - let's give it a try. Dad says he can get Skype installed on this computer. He already has it on his laptop. Our plan is to sit here at the desk together, with both computers - and go for it. Let us know if you decide you'd like to team up. Stephen & Steve (dad) |

Hey there Stephen,
I am Cait, I am 14 and I am from Las Vegas. I am also doing the Thirty Day Challenge (30DC). I decided to join in with my Mom, Sheryl Loch. This is our first year. I joined the forum yesterday, and I am so excited. We have not found a team either. We have been online for quite awhile, but we just thought this would be a good experience for us, to learn allot more. That can possibly work to our advantage. Hope you have an awesome day, and good luck. Cait Hagar

Hey Stephen - it's your dad,
You're already in bed. I'm getting there. Tomorrow, we'll catch up on the rest of the pre-season training and get Flock all pimped out on your computer. Then, we'll get serious about finding a few team mates. Sound good? See you in the morning - Love, Dad |

Wow, this is too funny. You really made me laugh Steve! The things grownups do when kids are fast asleep.
I'm going to send a PM to Stephen - he was here first and I think he's doing a fantastic job setting up the team. Could be lots of laughs on this journey. I'm sending my email address and Skype info - maybe we can make time for a chat this weekend? It would be great if we could. Catch you later! |

Hey Stephen
I was planing on doing the challenge on my own but when i came across this topic it sounded like alot of fun so i was wondering if there would be room for another. I'm 20 and live in Nova Scotia Canada but timezones don't make much difference for me so i hope to hear from you. |

To all - time got away from Stephen and I tonight. I ended up having to work later than normal. He and I did make a point of logging onto the forum just before bedtime. He was surprised and excited by everyone's responses - and wanted me to thank you all.
He and I will take some time to respond properly in the next day or two @Jooles - thanks for the PM - we'll get back to you with some time options to connect over the weekend. I'm sure you're right - there will be lots of laughs... @SherylLoch - I'll get Stephen all set-up with Skype, hadn't heard of ooVoo before - but I'll do some exploring and figure it out. Thanks for your offer of help. I imagine we'll be needing plenty throughout the 30 Day Challenge. @Crimson - there's certainly room for you. As Stephen's dad, I think this will be a tremendous learning experience for him AND it could be the best "What I did over summer vacation" story a 5th grader ever told... We'll see. ![]() Steve |

I'm really looking forward to our first chat on Skype. It will be great to get to know you all a little better.
It's really great that we have two young people in the team. I sometimes think that they have a different view of the world and often see things that we oldies miss! And yes, what a story there will be to tell at the end of summer! I certainly hope that one of the stories will concern friends for life! I hope we will all be chatting Saturday or Sunday - Has everyone sent their emails and Skype usernames to Stephen? I have lots of searching to do on the Internet so I'll log in tomorrow. Take care Julie |
