So far, our team consists of:

Sandra Foyt, Mom Advisor, and author of On Living By Learning - Learn, Grow, Explore, Change the World.

Kayla
Ryan
Alex
Sam?

If you'd like to join our team, just post a reply!

I've noticed that my kids aren't following the Training videos. Some are too long or they assume knowledge that my kids don't have.

So, I'm going to use this forum to post quick how-to's that will, hopefully, be easier for the kids to follow. We'll see!

Default Digital Natives - PreSeason: Get Flock

The first training video is super-long, 40 minutes long! In it, you find out that at least one former 30 Day Challenge member became a millionaire. Also, there are lots of different types of people doing the challenge, including many kids. Hooray!

All you really need to know, is that step 1 is loading the Flock Browser, that you will be using instead of Internet Explorer or Firefox.

To load the Flock browser, go to: Flock Browser - The Social Web Browser

You'll see at least one big, orange button that says "Download Flock 1.2"

Click on it, and follow the steps to download it to your computer.

That's all you have to do to complete the first Training!

Talking Joining Digital Natives

Ya, my names Kayla (don't wear it out.) My blog is Elferkid.com.

Like any teen I love money. So i am hoping to make lots of it. Don't worry my blog isn't all about money. My logo is- Saving the world from boredom one boondogle at a time.

Again don't worry my blog isn't just funny stuff. Don't get me wrong I love funny stuff and my blog is very funny buts thats not the whole point. My blog is like a teen point of view. I know there is allot of those out their but they are all made by older kids like 16 and 17 year olds.

I'm 12 going on 13 so i consider myself a teen. I review food and talk about all those awesome things going on in my life, and I have pictures.

Default Digital Natives - PreSeason: Flock Settings

The second video is much shorter than the first, just 14 minutes. I highly recommend watching this and pausing it to do what Ed demonstrates.

One thing, Ed tells you to go to the Flock "preferences" to set up Flock. But, if you have a Windows computer, you will find this at the top of your screen under Tools, then Options.

Default Digital Natives - PreSeason: Installing Add Ons

Training #3 had another super-long video that I thought would cover installing Add Ons into Flock, but it didn't. Instead, Ed described the various parts of the 30 Day Challenge Site. Most of that is pretty obvious. Just visit the four main sections (see navigation links on top right): Dashboard, Training, Blog, and Forum.

Frankly, if you're reading the posts in this forum, you've probably already figured this out!

There is stuff you need to do to customize your Flock and 30DC Forum experience.

Let's start with this Forum. Look up on the Screen to where you see "User CP" and a whole bunch of other Headers (FAQ, Members List, etc.)

Click on "New Posts" to only read messages that were recently posted.

Use "Search" to find posts on topics or problems that interest you. For example, if you want to find other kids, you might want to search for "kids."

Under "Quick Links" you'll find the User Control Panel. This is the same thing as User CP that was on the left-hand side of the Header row. Go there to set up your Signature and Avatar.

Talking Search

In search you can search threads, or posts. If you click advanced search you can do some cool stuff.

Default Digital Natives - PreSeason: Installing Add Ons, Part 2

Go to the Dashboard Page, and look at the right-hand column for the Quick Links section. You'll see a link to Download The Toolbar. Click on that link, then when you're on that page, click on Install the Toolbar. Just make sure that you use the one at the end (that isn't for Internet Explorer.)

By the way, on the Install Toolbar page you'll see screenshots demonstrating how to install this add on. These are the steps you'll have to follow for installing any of the future add ons.

When you're done installing this Toolbar, you'll find that you have a link to the Preseason Training right on your toolbar.

Explore the new toolbar links, and tell us what you find.
