Default Traffic generated from youtube

I thought some statistics about traffic generated from youtube might be of interest.

I have 135 videos posted on youtube.

I have 1'045 subscribers to my videos.

There have been 1'892'933 views of my videos so far, and 83'214 channel views.

And despite all of this, traffic from youtube only represents 6 % of the visitors I get to my blog site. The number one source of traffic are people you have bookmarked my site, and the number two is a link from another site. This ONE link brings about 30 % of my traffic. One link - 30% of the traffic, youtube with 135 videos - 6 % of the traffic.

I do not say this has to be the same for all sites. It is simply the real experience I have with my site. So incoming links appear to me to be extremely powerful and are not to be overlooked.

ciao ciao

Hello Team Youtube:

I would like to take a moment and welcome Geoffrey and Carolyn to the team. Congrats and Welcome.

Mark, I might have had one early on when you tube first started but I don't think it is still there.. I will check on that and get back to you on that. I have to go back to work tonight but after 4 p.m. Tuesday I will have more time and can really sit down and type some ideas I have been mulling over.

The videos I personally think are a good idea and maybe one idea could be is that we select a Team Captain ( I guess I had already assumed that Mark was it since he started the thread ), but I am open to a selection process if that is what everyone wants. I think that carolyn really brings something to the table in her ability to speak 7 languages, Man what a gift! I am an interpreter for the deaf here in Mississippi in the USA and I wished I spoke more languages. Geoffrey I look forward to your expertise and the skills you bring to the table.

The other thing I thought of is maybe the Team Captain could make a video each week updating everything for that week and some ideas to consider the following week or whatever time frame we set up and then possibly anyone else who wanted to jump in and do one or if we wanted to do a specific task related to the challenge and someone needed training on it, we could make a camtasia video for the training ( I use CamstudioIM version that I may be able to share with members, but you did not hear me say that). I would certainly like to volunteer to help in any way that I can since I may have a little more flexibility than some folks. Well I will try to write later tonite or after 4 Tuesday with some other ideas and I will let you know the youtube channel mark. I have Yahoo Messenger with the ID phoenixunlimitedproducts,
if you want to IM me and my email is the same @yahoo.com.

Have a great day/evening and look forward to working with each one of you.

John & Karla

Hi John , Hi Mark & Everyone

Here is just some input from my side. Youtube is not only for posting videos.

It is a resource, a library, that we can use for content on our pages. For example, I use golf videos from youtube for my golf blog sites. Visitors can learn about the golf swing for free, and I earn some money from the adsense, Amazon associates and Ebay affiliate programs.

For you Mark, in terms of marketing in general, there are videos of Dan Kennedy, and other gurus that you could put on your site to add content. You can give your spin/comments on the video and earn some adsense revenue and maybe some affiliate commissions.

Here is an affiliate program that helps put Ebay ads on a site.

https://www.auctionads.com/index.php

You can also do it directly in Ebay.

ciao ciao et au bientôt

Carolyn

@phoenixunlimitedproducts - I've got no claim to being the team captain, i'll take it if nominated, however my vote would go to carolyn, 1.8 million views is AWESOME! and for sure worthy of a "youtube team captain" (thanks for the stats carolyn)

I think another great trait of a captian could be to have done a 30day challenge before, anybody yet? Maybe somebody with experience will join. I only say this because I honestly have no clue what happens in these challenges.

The only thing I'm sure of is we can hopefully all work together to help one another achieve a site earning $10 per day.

@carolyn - I'm not sure about branding copyrighted videos but I would for sure be branding the videos you make. I just started doing this by puting the 45n5 as a big watermark on my videos. (like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iIeFzvmjxk)

interesting idea Carolyn, not sure if it will work for the competition (since we don't know what we are making yet) but I may try that on some other sites.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the compliment, but I would like NOT to be considered for the Team Captain position. There are many many things happening in my life right now and I just cannot commit to being a captain.

About the 30 day challenge - I have never done it before either. BUT......
if you want a day-by-day example of what was done in a previous 30 Day Challenge, please look here http://notes.rightnow4you.com/ and here
http://www.undiesopensource.com/resource.html#day1

First you research some markets, and then narrow it down to 2 or 3 that you want to test.

Then you test and ask questions of your visitors.

Then find or create a product or service for that market you have found.

Then get your page up and generate traffic.

This is of course simplified, but take alook at the sites about for the podcasts, videos and links.

tot ziens

Hi Mark

I already post videos from youtube as content, and earn some Adsense revenue from the visitors. So I know it works. It will not make you a millionaire, but it does generate revenue.

I have Adsense on about 20 sites and get between 4 to 15 US$ per day only from Adsense.

ciao ciao

This is an example of a type of subject for a 30 day challenge.

For example, say John wants to do something with sign language. So he puts together a site with the resources to help people quickly and easily learn sign language like

http://www.asl.gs/
http://asl.ms/()/fingerspellingchart.htm
http://www.kindersigns.com/anim_dictionary.html
http://www.handspeak.com/
http://www.lifeprint.com/

He might have

adsense,
affiliate programs,
sell his own consulting on Fund Raising for Deaf Organisations,
sourcing particular products that are useful for the deaf,
sell products for the deaf on Ebay, etc.

As the saying goes, there are many different ways to skin a cat.

That is my weak attempt at explaining what one might do in a 30 Day Challenge.

ciao ciao

Hi Mark, John and Carolyn, thanks for accepting me. I have dabbled in the internet because of low web buiilding skills, but it seems that with youtube squidoo, you don't really need too. So I am looking forward to working with you.
We are spanning, i think a global 24 hours so that's fantastic.
Should we have a few more or close it off and do communications by another medium/forum?
My leaning is to get 2/3 more in the next 24 and then close off the team.
By the way for the benefit of viewers as well,

This blog also has the previous 30dc content as well

i'm fine with a couple more if we can get them, the more the merrier.

thanks for the link on last years challenge, I was under the assumption that at day one we would need to make a site earning $10 per day, but last year it doesn't look like the sites were even live until near the end of the month.
