Default Still behind but catching up!

Hi all
Big thanks and <hugz> to the 30DC teachers, you guys rock!!
(karl, will you marry me??)

Ok -- I got really stuck on finding the micro niche; and still don't 'feel' like I found one, but not sure I wasn't going about it with the wrong 'thinking' so I'm sharing this in case others are doing the same.
I *think* my problem was --- I didn't start big enough with that first (market) keyword. So by the time I zeroed in on them, they never looked viable.
Once I expanded the first kw (out of frustration mainly)...lo and behold; the micro niche appeared and even in the right colors

So on I went with the training (I am at about day 10/11 now). Have the site setup with what I'll call a 'half-azz' blog <real article writing seems to be my next hill to climb>..
Here is what baffles/amazes me....within an hour of doing the social marker site...my digg post was on first page of google when searching my theme phrase (broad I *think* -- used no quotations on it). <yipeee!!!>

This morning doing the search -- that one has moved up to first one under the 'sponsored' links and there is yet another of my links/ads also on the first page lower down though.

I suffer from what dear Karl would say is Fear of Success (did I ask him to marry me yet????)
Is this tooooo weird? I am happy/thrilled ---BUT...at the same time, wondering if I have mis-stepped along the way because it seems to have worked TOO WELL?!!
Is this what was supposed to happen?? Frankly, if someone had 'told' me this as a 'micro niche' I would have said -- no way that is not swamped...well..matrix told a different story and so I listened. Maybe someone else struggling with finding the niche needs to step 'back' a bit in the market KW as well so hope this might help others.

Again - thanks to ALL~~ I've wanted to get into this a couple of years now; and thinking maybe I have found the way with 30DC awesomeness~

Best
Andie

What a great story. I needed a boost today and you just gave it to me. Be careful what you wish for, because with your good luck you might just get it!

Hope it all continues well for you.

Michael,
wow, now hearing it helps boost you up really makes my day!
Hang in there and keep working on it - it will get there.

I know I had to go through the first few days of 'niche' training 3 or 4 times for it all to really get it. And like I said, still 'behind' but trying to take it slowly enough that it all makes sense!

Good luck to you and keep us posted

Default Thanks for the inspiration

I'm still stuck on finding that micro-niche. I was beginning to wonder if maybe I wasn't cut out to do this IM thing. I have started with broad, usually one word, markets and picked several micro-niches in that market to follow. The problem has been that either the micro-niches I pick are still too competitive, or there is no competition! So, I will keep trying until the MS trial expires or I find that micro-niche.

I am stuck finding a micro-niche with something that can actually sell. Taking on the Golf idea, then golf clubs etc. I tried Football, then football shirts, but all I got as niches was a long list of clubs and teams.

Nothing more specific that could be refined further. Anyway I don't see how I could monetize it as a niche as I don't have any connections to sell them.

How important is it to have a saleable product for a successful micro-niche?

As time is getting short I shall have to go back to a previous blog on home businesses which is also far too general and has too much competition.
Maybe I'll find something better later I hope.

Where directly are you stuck? Do you have enough niche idea's or they just never fit to the 30 DC criteria?

I'm reticent to highjack this thread but have you last two posters checked out this thread for ideas 8 Great Resources to Find Out the Most Popular Things People Are Searching For Today OR even go back to the original lessons on finding a niche and take a fresh look at things.

First of all - don't think time is getting short-- if it takes some of us 60 days to get there; no harm no foul, correct?

As for Products: They are pretty much everywhere through the affiliate programs. I like Amazon personally and all the product sources (paydotcom, clickbank, etc) are very helpful with the 'tools' to promote them. Think of where you would shop for the items and then check if they have their own affiliate signup you can do.

With the season starting makes the 'football' theme appealing especially if you are a serious follower; but I can see how it would be hard to zero down in it. Have you any particular team you could focus on? Any 'local' area team you can become the 'guru' of? Depending on your locale; maybe even a site for 'local' teams/school levels if there is enough population for the interest?

Just some thoughts for you...hang in there and (as they say) "when you least expect it" something with come to you !

Before I found mine, I had a dozen 'projects' on MS that were like that. I also had to actually 'write down' the steps from the 'find a niche' videos (which I watched a half dozen times) to be sure I applied 'which' filter at which time; and not mis-step that way. (I'm baring my slowness for all to see)

Might take a break for a day; someone suggested that and it helped...
hang it there; it will come

Many thanks for the replies. As for time, I just mean the free trial of Market Samurai expires soon. It could be worth purchasing later if the method works.

As far as football is concerned, I know many parents spend a lot of money buying their children the most recent updated local football team shirts as they keep changing so often. It seemed like a good idea.

However I realised later that team shirts are usually sold (expensively) under franchise so is not be suited to TDC method. Unlike golf with many kinds of clubs, niblicks, irons, woods, etc, football kit, is not so easy to micro-niche.

What we need is a product that is either a digital download or a publication such as a book. How could we sell a tenor saxophone, for example, from a website? When I checked out Commission Junction (it retails real goods) the commission is often a very low 5%.

Unless we know in advance there is an affiliate site available, how do we handle a niche if we are not running our own business?

Yes your right, I shall have to go back and read those lessons again, and find a better niche. I haven't grasped it fully yet!
