Default Learn from my mistakes

I just wanted to share what I think is a secret to success with the 30DC.

I made the hall of fame through adwords on my first site, which was (as still is) ranking around the 200's.

However, I've put together about 3 other sites in the meantime with the 30DC method, all of which are now ranking in the google keyword top 10, and today one entered google at #3 Broad #1 Phrase!

Although I know that immediate rankings are no indication, etc. I'm still excited to see the results!

These are some things I did differently the 2nd time around. If you're just starting, hopefully you can learn from my mistakes to ensure your 30 day challenge goes as smoothly as possible!

- 2nd time around - I did proper market research instead of plugging in words until I found a matrix that looked "kind of green"
(1st attempt problem: I didn't listen)

- 2nd time around - I used a proper .com/.org/.net keyword or a hyphenated keyword as the videos suggested before looking for word extensions
(1st attempt problem: I didn't listen)

- 2nd time around - I used unique content on each piece, instead of rehashing the same story with different words
(1st attempt problem: I didn't listen)

- 2nd time around - I had more fun
(1st attempt problem: I was too busy not listening and thinking I knew better to have real fun)

I just wanted to say thank you to everybody at the 30DC, when I listen to what you're saying, this stuff really works!

See you all in the 30DC+

EdW

Thanks for posting this. It helps to have someone else pointing out the very things we might have been doing wrong the first time and to show if you do it properly it does really work. Isn't it great though to have the benefit of doing things wrong because then you can really learn from that and understand a better way to do it. And with 30 DC it takes only a very short time to realize mistakes as opposed to months or years if you're doing it by yourself.

Great post Ed - Congrats on the #1 ranking!

We all start out as beginners and make mistakes through not listening - the one's who make it are the one's who persevere & go back; listen again, then correct their course and avoid making the same mistake twice!

Good post EdW...

Not that I didn't listen, but I used techniques I learned in this (my first one) 30dc to change up my offline business' website that I've had for over a year now and immediately saw the difference. I have made almost $300 from that website since about Aug 14th or so when I changed it up and started getting some traffic to it. Doesn't count in this 30dc, but I'm still stoked as you can imagine!

I am really thankful for the teaching Ed and all of you at 30dc have given. Never again will I look for a part-time job when I need a little extra money or something like that. I will use my new skills and make some money right here doing what I enjoy by helping people solve whatever problems they may have (niche).

All great points there Ed!!!

From my experience, it was a challenge in itself to stay caught up and at the same time as I chose a micro-niche I am uber-passionate about I can see how the first mistake can be made as well as not just having "real" fun(often times even your passion can become a "job").

Bill- right on as well! Those who learn from their mistakes are much better off than those who think they'll never make them.

Default Starting again....

Wow, thanks so much. I made a lot of mistakes by trying to come into the challenge late and catching up. The market research, just as Ed says, will make or break you. But I am learning, as we all are from my mistakes of not listening carefully the first time. It's like watching a movie twice and seeing things that were already there, but you didn't catch them the first time!

Thanks so much for sharing and being so honest! It encouraged me so much!
