Smile Finally made my first sale! £3.90 ticked in today

I finally made my first sale today! Not much but finally I got the answer I wanted. I almost gave up this site because I've been working on this website since the start of 30DC -09 and no results. But today I checked my network account and finally there it was: Earning: £3.90

Now I want to work harder and more to get more traffic to my site. What a energy boost!

Brilliant! Well done Elboks

You sounded like I feel at the moment - I haven't managed a sale yet and have been working daily to do all the stuff we are told to. My ranking still stinks and my traffic has been nil for two days now, even though put more stuff in place every day.

Can you tell me how many clicks on your product you had before your sale please? It might give me hope.......

I'm busting a gut to make this work but I'd really like just a little ray of hope to break through the dark clouds at the moment.

I use a datafeed for my products and I got 65 clicks last month (not much, I know). So I wanted to test some other affiliate networks. Way back, about 2 years ago I made a website promoting products from Ebay. I remember I earned about 9 USD, but at that time I didn't know much about internet marketing so it didn't go very good. Well, so I was thinking the other day...Hmmm why not just try that again? 10 clicks later a sale came through.
And now MS made it even easier to promote from Ebay with their new features
When the next sale will come I don't know, tomorrow, next week, next month I don't know.
My ranking on my theme keyword is very good, 8th (broad), 3rd (phrase) in Google + that Google really like my ezine article and put that on 10th. But I think I didn't do my homework properly when I did the research in MS, so the traffic is lower than I expected.

So I wonder now if I should move on to another micro niche market which I think looks more promising, but I am not sure if I should keep my site or sell it. It has not many visitors so far so base the decision on that is not enough. On the other hand if I want to start a new project, I'm afraid my old website will take a lot of time and slow down my next project. I know how to multitask , but with a fulltime job and family I can only do a few hours per day/per 2nd day.
Any good ideas about what I should do?

I've got to tell you that I made a sale since posting in this thread a few days ago - I'm so very happy! Thanks for coming back with your numbers - it really helps me to hear what others are experiencing but then, that's what this forum is all about, isn't it?

As for you wanting to move on to a new project, I think that you should stick with the one you've got until your numbers reach Ed's instructions. I felt exactly the same and wanted to move on to a new niche in the hopes that it would be the one to take off straight away. However, isn't that the very mistake that so many inexperienced internet marketers make? I've learned that there is no fast track route to the income we all desire and that we need to keep working away and see things build up slowly but surely and moving on to a fresh project before the old one is either up and running and earning well or junked completely just splits your time, focus and energy.

I too have little time to spare as I am my disabled husband's carer and we also have a teenage daughter so I know all about other calls on my time! This is precisely why I am doing the 30DC as it will allow me to work when I can find the time (2am?!)

Don't give up on your niche until you know for certain that it isn't going to be profitable. Keep hanging in there.

Congratulation for you first sale! It's a energy boost, isn't it?!

One thing that concerns me is that my theme keyword and category keywords are not generating enough traffic in phrase and exact match. I'm referring to the MS keyword research is giving me. For example my theme keyword on SEOT in phrase it's 111 visits and in exact it's 12 visits. So I'm worried that I'm using all my time and effort on a project that will not give much back. Yes, I can tons of articles but to build a decent amount of traffic I believe can take ages. I believe you have read the post 4th Phrase & Broad For SEOT Of 4000 and 0 Traffic (since you replied to it) Unfortunatly the same thing happened to me as well. I didn't see that my exact matches are that low.

Any way, I leave my options undecided for a few more days.

You stay with your suggestion?

My micro niche is part of a very big niche but, like you, my individual theme and category keywords have low search volumes but do fall within the 30DC SEO criteria. From additional keyword research looking for an alternative niche when I was convinced that I'd never make a sale, it seems that you have to be amazingly fortunate to stumble across a high traffic/low competition set of phrases.

Once a micro niche has demonstrated that it is a 'Go' niche and got that first sale within 200 product clicks, the whole blog can be widened out to target additional, related search terms and - as I understand it - that is where the traffic volume can be pumped up to the 200 visitors per day level.

My particular health niche has many, many related terms I can incorporate and also has dozens of affiliate products available, demonstrating that the market is an active one. I also have an idea for a product of my own (in time!), so I can see the way forward. What you need to ask yourself is whether your micro niche has the same, wider potential for you to tap into before you decide to junk it and start again from scratch.

Hope that helps & good luck with your decision

Yes, my micro niche is the same as yours and has a wider potential where I can use small but effective keywords to build up the traffic brick by brick.

And another sale came in today of £1,19!!!

So I'm going to stick with it until I build up my 200 visits per day!

Thanks for sharing your tips Jane
