Unhappy Really Frustrated

I started the 30DC last Thursday, full of hope and desire. I decided that I was gonna give it my all and pull myself out of the doldrums Ive been stuck in for over a year.

Day one was great! and going into day two, I was really starting to feel the spark, however, I ran into a wall.

For some reason, my Marketing Samurai fails to populate SEOC. I opened a ticket with them Friday night, and waited til early Monday morning for a response. I was edified that they promptly got back to me, asking me to open a bug report for them.

This I did that Monday, and since then, have heard nothing back. I've sent 4 follow up e-mails to them, and 1 to Gurubob, and have not gotten anything back.

Since it's pretty obvious that Marketing Samurai is central to the 30DC, I cant really proceed.

The one guy who turned me on to all of this told me he has never had any problem working with either Marketing Samurai's Support team or Gurubob, and that they have always gotten back to him almost immediately.

I am truly frustrated here! I have no clue as to how to proceed, and if I didn't want to do the program so much, would send some nasty e-mails and move along.

Any ideas?

Hi Elliot!

I don't know what exactly the error could be - just checked my MS and it's working fine right now. I could imagine that the problems are somehow related to googles new interface which caused me some problems as well.

After running the newest MS update (updated mine a few hours ago), are you still encountering the same problem?

Have you tried to contact the MS crew again? Maybe they were spending their whole time to adjust MS to the new interface lately. Remembering them of your problem - if it's not fixed with the new update - would be my next step.

If you do not know how to spend your time while waiting for an answer, how about getting more niche ideas or watching some more lessons?

Hope that helps you

Thanks for the feedback!

I updated MS, but still no luck.

Ive sent another email to MS Support.

I dont wanna move forward because Im fairly certain that SEOC data is critical for "drilling down".

Ive started doing some of the "preseason" tasks, but the experience has gotten a sour taste, and my natural cynicism is creeping in. Its difficult to move forward with a program if the elements required dont function.

Anyway, trying to stay positive!

Elliot - I'm so sorry about this.

We had a temporary data outage - however it should be fixed now (although you've probably received a reply from Miriam or Alex in support already about it.)

Here are the details of what happened:

Noble Samurai » Google Search Change – Market Samurai Updated

To solve the issue, just update your copy of Market Samurai to the latest version (via your unique download link).

I hope this helps you out.

Brent

Brent,

Thanks for posting up on this. I had already run the update as per Mathias' suggestion and nothing has changed.

I un-installed and re-installed from my unique and still no luck.

I still have not heard from Alex since Monday.

Thanks!

I had the same problem most of yesterday with SEOC, SEOTC and other Google data not functioning. It turned out the issue was to do with Google's new UI. I updated my Market Samurai and it's fetching great now!

Not sure why it's still not working for you. Try going into Settings/Preferences, click Proxies and untick 'Use Built-In Proxies'. It will then use your own connection to fetch the data which will be slower and you'll have to fill in more captcha's, but it might just work.

Are you sure you can't move forward without SEOC? It sounds a little like you're looking for excuses. There's always a way forward.

Anyway, Good luck!

I think the problem is that Google is rolling out the new layout very slowly. Sometimes I still have the old layout.

I'm on day 20 and a totally stuck too!

My MS has completely stopped working, since the update 4 days ago. This is an issue that has apparently affected all Mac OS 10.4 users. I can't even open a project or see any of the rankings, research, advertisements etc that I've done to date.

I'm trying to go ahead with the Adwords exercises, but my ad is stuck on "Under Review" and is not live yet. So I can't do much on that front either...

Thanks for some of your feedback, however, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar!

The 30DC seems to rely heavily on the use of MS to identify Micro Niches based on traffic and competition. Being 2 days into a totally unknown process, don't you think having total access to the tools needed is pretty much the ONLY way forward?

I have sent multiple e-mails to MS tech support, to Gurubob (who could not help) and posted request for information here.

What else do you suggest? Perhaps I'll just invent my own way of doing this this.

Everything that MS does for you automatically can be done by you manually.

If all you need is SEOC, then simply go to Google and type in your keywords with quotes for a phrase match and when the results come back, you'll see your SEOC number as something like "About 27,700,000 results (0.37 seconds)"

There will always be problems and frustrations in marketing, no matter what. You seem committed to finding a solution any way you can, and that's the mindset you need to survive in this game. Best of luck!
