Default TDC Experiences Shared

I just thought I would share my experiences of my participation in the TDC.

When I joined the challenge last year, I was in a position of being unimpressed with IM.

I had spent a fortune on solutions which promised answers - but still found myself not making money. Participation in the TDC was transformational.

I now have a way of locating, building and testing niches within a week. I can then make a go/no-go decision and move on. Unless you have spent months building niche sites, which then fail to bring in any income, you may not appreciate how fantastic this is! Any result is fine. The best thing about the TDC method is that I am in a position to make a judgment in relatively little time.

I cannot stress enough how much time I have saved and how this has affected my business.

One of my little sites from last year brings me in between $200 and $250 a month from Clickbank. I haven't touched it in a year and it just plods on.

Now to find that little site I abandoned, from memory, 10 others. Prior to the TDC I would still have been testing number 3 at this stage and getting more and more demoralised.

In the intervening year I have built more sites for myself and also for clients and we are all making a living. I have no Boss, I work from home, I choose my own hours. I am not making millions - yet - BUT I am totally self supporting and have a lifestyle that is so valuable to me it is beyond price.

I am not sure I am articulating this well.

You have been handed a gift here. You can choose to use the training, refuse to allow yourself to be distracted or become disheartened and keep going, knowing that each niche that bombs brings you closer to the one that works, or you can go off and spend a fortune on the next big package that promises all the answers and max out yet another credit card. Choice is yours.

I give time freely to help those who want to learn from the TDC because I know the process works. Even when I discover (in no time at all) that a niche is a dud, the process has worked.

I would encourage everyone to watch and rewatch the videos. I sound like the proverbial record stuck in a groove over this. I watch the videos again and again and each time I catch a snippet I either missed or had forgotten.

You are being presented with a process that has the potential to set you up for life. Why would you rush through this and expect to know it all in 17 days?

In my youth I was a pilot. It took me 4 years to train, pass exams and gain flying hours and cost more money than I even want to think about. It was a process of learning and developing myself and the process which paid huge dividends in my life. Working through these training materials is no different.

If you skim through them, grab the bare minimum, you are short changing yourself.

Ed has recommended a book recently The Art of Learning by Josh Waitkin and I would like to add another recommendation - Mastery by George Leonard

This training is a priceless gift which, very unusually, comes for free. I urge you to focus on the priceless aspect of it and take advantage of this unique opportunity and experience.

Thanks for the book reference, I'd missed that. I'd just like to second a lot of what philoscribe just said. I learned lots from last year's challenge but the lessons really took till October/November to sink in and make sense. August is an intense learning whirlwind. Aftewards I took a while to apply the teaching again and slowly things clicked. Then I applied it to my other sites and it worked for them too. I don't make a fortune but I'm doing OK and I'm sure this year's learning will move me on another level again.

I have to say that Ed is a great teacher. He really knows a lot about the techniques of teaching adults and using brain based learning. Don't be fooled that he's just a nice guy who's sharing this stuff. (Well he is, but there's much more to it than that!) He's applying quite some sophisticated learning theories. In particular I loved what he said in the TV show last night about failure.
Failure of a niche we are TESTING is not a failure of ourselves or of the process! It is actually what we are trying to achieve. Disguarding a niche and moving on at any point when it does not meet the criteria is a success. Somehow the traditional education system has set us up to see any failure as 'our fault' and all the old insecurities kick in. Ed just cut through all of that in a fairly intense 15 minute rant last night. If you haven't watched it you should.
While I'm on the subject of teaching I have to say all the videos have been of a really high standard this year. Gurubob's are hard work for me, but there's so much in them I need to watch them several times. Caro is just obviously a natural teacher Hope we see more from her! Dan's are excellent too and the Manchester accent is extra welcome now I'm exiled in the South!
Enough of this, I need to go find a new niche!

Great post philoscribe! I have been in IM for 1 year now, made a lot of sites, learned a lot of knowledge, now it seems all easy to me, making blogs and profiting with them, just because of 30dc. After the challenge is over, I will defenitly make more blogs following this steps that Ed, Dan, Bob, Caro showed us, and lets hope money will come

Keep faith, IM is a long road!

Default Think of Edison

I'm sure many people know about Edison's thousands of attempts to make a light bulb. It took a LOT of trial and error.

What did he say when people taunted him for failure: "I am not discouraged, because EVERY wrong attempt discarded is another step forward."

great stuff philoscribe. I was surprised to see that people were so easily discouraged. I am a teacher of secondary students and the way the syllabus is set out is still very 19th century despite some good progress. It definately does tend to instill a fear of failure as we are required to assess in particular ways.
Ed is doing a wonderful job and I think that aswell as continuing using his techniques we are also encouraged to experiment, test and find new ways aswell. Especially now weare pointed in the right direction.
Thats partly why it is always another exciting day!

Default You hit the nail on the head

Not necessarily about this training but about not giving up. The other big key is to sit back and analyze your failures. Knowing why something did not work is almost more important than knowing why something DID work.

The thing about TDC that I see is the exposure to new tools. Good bad and ugly.

Overall, this is just a college level marketing class. It is good for the very basics but there is a lot left out ... so far. Maybe it gets to other important stuff later.

Thumbs up Thankyou

Philoscribe,

This is the post I have been waiting to read a long time. I haven't started the challenge as yet (we have a team starting on Sept 1st), but you have said just about everything I have wanted to hear.

I can't thank you enough.

Regards
Chris
