The problem is that when you first decide to get into Internet Marketing and start googling, you are bombarded with c**p, white sales pages with red titles, false promises, over the top self-proclaimed guru's, guys that tell you they are down to earth and will reveal secrets that the guru's don't want you to know, and more c**p. Which can be a huge turn off. I can't actually remember how I found 30DC now, but I'm positive it saved me from a c**p-load of c**p. We should petition Google to have the 30DC show at the top of the search results for any keyphrases related to IM and making money online etc etc

BTW, c**p = chocolate pudding

Default Adwords and Targeting

I agree that the 30DC is great for a solid foundation but I don't like the concentration on Adwords. Yes it needs to be mentioned as a resource but it's surely more important to learn how to target specific markets.

I'm getting 78% of my traffic from Ireland which is next to useless when I expect 78% of my sales will come from America and anywhere but Ireland.

I too wish 'Guru' Bob would drop that misused word.

That is why most people will see very little return from their sites.

Looking at traffic patterns is only one piece of the puzzle, not the end all and be all.

Another problem is that using the social sites to build traffic is just bringing in a false boost to numbers. Most of those people are not going to be actual customers. Just window shoppers.

But they are free and they will help somewhat in getting your site boosted in the SERPs. How much they help is debatable.

Don't get the wrong idea, this is very good basic training and it is what you will get from the "gurus" for a bunch of money. So in that respect it is good.
Don, this is more than good basic training. I feel they have taken years off the learning curve in just a few weeks. It's excellent basic training.

What you said about the traffic from social websites is probably valid. But I wouldn't call it a false boost. The people who come to a website from a social network are not much different from those who search for key words at a search engine. Contrast this from all the traffic exchanges and safelists. Whether from a social network or from a search engine, if you've done your job right, they are potential buyers.

I wish that I had this wordpress direct years ago. It alone could've saved me years of despair -- as long as there was someone to show us what to do before going online.

I totally agree, but i have to say this is still the pebble in the pond - the waves have yet to be discovered, i have seen some very expensive seminars, that ED has taken part in and trust me what this guy knows is... well lots more than testing markets.

i trust you will all find it in your own time - i will tell you this though you don't have to spend loads of money to learn anything anymore, EVERYTHING is available on the internet if you know where to look.

Unfortunetly for Ed and others there are sites where you can get your hands on seminars and not pay a penny for it.

Good for me and you but not good for these "gurus" Then again ed is very passionate about teaching for free so any publicity is good publicity i suppose.
