I have been trying to get somewhere in Internet Marketing for some years - but I consider myself a newcomer. Why? Because I have listened to every "expert" who has had a money-maker to sell. No more.
The ones to listen to are Ed and Dan and Bob (Excuse me, but I won't call you a guru 'cause I don't care much for the other guys who hijacked that term from the Orient. You are a teacher, and a good one, fair enough?). There may be others, but this 30DC has done something no other coach has done: Besides doing this for free, they have introduced us to marketing tools that get results. And they have constructed a step by step course which is purely logical. And here's the big thing: They are taking the course themselves, right in front of us. Every other "coach" out there knows only two niches - "dogs" and "people who want to make money on the internet." I am getting emails every hour, it seems, from another would be teacher who promises me I will be making money. None of them have a clue. They may know how to make money, but what we have in the 30 Day Challenge is worth a lot more than their money-making skills. We are learning to create a business that brings value to a market. Thanks to Ed, Dan, and Bob. P.S. About my 30DC experience - I just completed Day 9. Three days ago I finally completed Day 2. I am catching up. And I may graduate by August 31, and maybe I won't. And I might not make any money in the niche I'm in now. But now I know how to find a better niche and create a business around it. And that Mkt Samurai and WordPress Direct are awesome.

Hi Jerry. Agree completely with you. Hanging out in the IM world can make you just a little jaded. I think it must be a rite of internet marketing passage to have a hard drive full of ebooks and plr products.
Fortunately, there are some really good people in this business as well. The trick is to figure out who they from the hucksters in the crowd. Mitch G

I totally agree. There have been only a few IM majors who seem to pass on useable info. What is happening here is is so direct and useable and makes you use the methods shown that (especially if you have absorbed lots of stuff b4) it pulls everything together in a really clear way. I wish this had been around 5 yrs ago. As has been said hard drives full of pdfs etc are a rite of passage. Also too much watching and learning instead of doing.

I think a problem a lot of people find when they enter the world of IM is that they miss learning the basics, and that is what is being taught here. Simple things like Market Research are often overlooked, so no amount of buying from the "gurus" (I hate that word too in this context) is going to give them a good foundation for business.
Once, you have that foundation and the business is doing well, you will find that you can improve that business by buying into other Internet Marketing products and putting them to use. But, my advice is, only buy what you need to take the next step and then the next step, and ALWAYS put into action what you buy. Lisa

You are all SO right. The 30DC allows us to focus and take action instead of fuelling the ADD we all suffer from. The first thing i'm going to do after the 30DC is unsubscribe from all those 'Guru's' mailing lists! There are 1 or 2 that provide real value but most are just online used car salesmen.
Ed and Co Totally rock but i'm not so sure about that theme tune! Nick |

I couldn't agree with all of the other sentiments more...
I've been working online for the past three years and haven't been able to break the "glass ceiling" of internet marketing information in order to build out my business. Since I've started following the 30DC, new worlds have been opened to:
So to say the least, I am deeply grateful for the "push" the trainers at 30DC have given me! You folks are the true "Thunder From Down Under"!

Yeah I know what you mean. One thing that is hardly taught by any of the Guru's is the need to focus. There are many ways to skin the marketing cat so if you are trying to learn all of them at once then your not going to get anywhere. I am on my fourth set of Guru's since staring IM about a year ago but I am more than sure I have found the people and system that will help me succeed.

I agree that what is being taught here is pretty much what the "gurus" keep rehashing as "about to blow the lid off the IM world" but I would like to bring up the point that what is being done here is only a fraction of what is really involved in market research. That is why most people will see very little return from their sites.
Looking at traffic patterns is only one piece of the puzzle, not the end all and be all. Another problem is that using the social sites to build traffic is just bringing in a false boost to numbers. Most of those people are not going to be actual customers. Just window shoppers. But they are free and they will help somewhat in getting your site boosted in the SERPs. How much they help is debatable. Don't get the wrong idea, this is very good basic training and it is what you will get from the "gurus" for a bunch of money. So in that respect it is good. |

I find the "gurus" expect you to know the basics and teach very little of them when you use one of their products.
I've watched a lot of videos and read a lot of ebooks, mostly free, and they don't go over the details of the basics. If you don't know them you really can't implement higher level strategies because you are basically being thrown into deep water without knowing how to float and swim. Even having a lot of experience about the basics now, I still find the IMers out there are mostly about collecting your money and less about really teaching you something you can implement and make work really well. I unsubscribe from email lists all the time because for some reason when you get on one, you find yourself on a bunch more. It takes a while to stop all the extra email. And every single one of them is about selling you something else, the next big secret to success. I believe wholeheartedly it's about their success, not yours.
