What is a Money Page

In Ed's webinar yesterday the Money page was discussed in a question. I don't know what this is. Reference was also made about collecting names and email addresses on a money page being a no no to Google.
Can someone help me out here.

A money page is just your sales page. If you were selling your own product, this page is the one selling your product.

If you money page (sales page) is collecting optins (names and emails) for no obvious return, ie: a free ebook or some free course, then google doesn't look favourably on that.

Thanks Bambi. I've lost my page rank after 3 years and trying to work out why. My opt in box for newsletter has only been up for a couple of months and it's on the home page of website. Ed's comments set bells ringing.

Well I didn't know that about optin boxes. I have just put one on my page only offering updates, does that mean I will be dropped by Google.
How does Google know what is being offered, does it just read the text or what.
