Getting More Traffic
Day 18 - Today looks at all of the different sorts of traffic there are. Ed explains why we go after particular types of traffic over others, and in what order to focus on them. For example, Ed explains the importance of getting your blog indexed and ranked as a first step before looking at using pay per click advertising due to Google's quality score.
Ed then outlines the basics of any internet business, which is Ed's Magnificent Symphony of Four Parts, market research, traffic, conversion, and product. While the other areas are covered, the main focus here today is traffic. As Ed explains, over time you are ideally aiming to build up your traffic up to 200 visitors a day (initially of course this will not be the case, you are looking for at least 100 visitors based on the methods covered so far in order to assess your blog).
Ed breaks sources of traffic down into 2 types, paid and free traffic. So far in the Thirty Day Challenge we have covered free traffic, building up our blog using off-page and on-page SEO factors. Ed outlines the benefits of using pay per click (PPC) traffic in terms of the leverage you get in terms of time saved and the targeted performance.
Lastly, Ed outlines what to do if money is an issue. PPC is a strategy that trades time for money. If that is not an option for you, keep doing the strategies that have already been taught. Rinse and repeat what you have already learned. While being a longer term strategy, it's still highly effective and won't cost you a dime.
Objective For The Day - On completing today's lessons, you will have a greater understanding of the types of traffic available to you, and the best methods and strategies for harnessing that traffic.
Mindset Lesson With Karl - Today Karl talks about the Pareto Principle (otherwise known as the 80/20 rule), and the effect it can have on all areas of your life from your personal relationships, to your financial success, and your business success.

Handy Tip - Remember, you are aiming to build up your daily traffic to 200 visitors a day over time, not straight away.
Based on the methods covered so far in the Thirty Day Challenge, we are looking at getting 100 visitors to our blog over a longer period of time, just to assess our micro-niche.
